Default Radio blowing fuse

History: the radio in our '98 Caravan "suddenty" stopped working. When I pulled to see what was up, I found that it had pennies inside. Apparently out 2 year old was busy in the front seat while we we were sitting on the back watching little league. Anyway, I got all the pennies out but it still blows the fuse. I haven't messed with it for awhile until tonight when I pulled it out again. The fuse blows when the connector circled in red below is on the clip. THE PICTURE IS HORRIBLE- I know. The clip is that the connector is exactly the same as the one I circled in blue for reference. With that connector off, the radio "appears" to function fine. I can;t hear it - because the speaker cable is too short to connect while I have it hanging out... but I can change between am/fm change channels using the presets, etc. HOWEVER, as soon as the connector circled is pushed on to it clip- snap-crackle & pop. What is happening? What is that particular connector for? I have tired putting it both ways on the clip (flipped one way then the other..) and I even tried it on the blue clip. Same result. Now that I have blown through my new box of 5 mini 10 amp fuses- I thought I would seek help. DO I need a new radio? This is the kind that has AM/FM CD and cassette. Model # PO4704383AD. ANy Help appreciated!!!

Those tabs are for ground. Be sure you don't have power at the grund wire. if you do, you'll to repair the short. if the wire is ground, then you may have a bad radio.
