Cool steering wheel vibration

one year owner of '94 caravan w/165k miles, 3.3L auto w/od. At highway speed, steering wheel vibrates back and forth about 1/2 inch, recently replaced struts, was shop alligned and tracks straight.
my thought is that one or more cv joints are worn, both outer boots are broken, probably for 6 months after shaft seal replacement last november. b4 I spend $150 for rebuilt drive axles, has anyone fixed a similar problem by replacing or rebuilding drive axles? Or could it be something else?
Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem in my '96 Grand Caravan this summer, where it in the end got really bad. I went to the dealer and after the mechanic test drove the car we had to have both left and right hand side drive axles replaced. We had them replaced with refurbished ones but they are as good as new now.

So replacing them is the only way to go. I also went down the same road trying alignment etc. first but to no avail.

Default drive axles

thanks for the response and info. anyone out there know how hard it is to replace drive axles in these older caravans, this one has the short driver side and longer pass side axles? motors manuals make it sound formitable, wheel hub pullers, lowering control arms, detaching strut from control arm, even removing brake caliper and rotor. Is it really that complicated? appreciate comments from other shade tree skin flints like myself.

You could have a bad tire or drive axles.
