Interior Blower Fan Control Problem
Eh there folks, my question is about my wife's caravan' blower fan controls. The problem she is having is that it only works on high fan output, what would be reason for this and how can the problem be fixed?
Most likely the blower motor resistor. I have no idea where it is in your caravan (year would be very helpful) but my guess is it is in the duct underneath the passenger side, where your feet would go if sitting in the front seat. You should be able to see a wire loom connecting to it.
Lakeport,
The resistor pack is behind the glove box. To access it, you have to pull the glove box tabs in to let the glove box flip completely down. The resistor pack should be just left of center, you will see a wiring harness. Undo the harness and then the two screws(I think its a 8mm socket). Then pull it out. Just as a side note, the dealer told me that if it is blowing again in less than three months the motor is probably going. Yes he was right. Mine just died! Good luck.

Seems to be a common problem with these vans. I had mine replaced when the I had the power window controls and the rear hatch controls fixed. In all, nearly a $700 repair. Ouch! Wish I would have had time to do it myself.
Resistor block or power module (if it has automatic temperature control), needs to be replaced. Some are located behind the glove box (Generation 4). It is easy to replace. What's the year of the van?

Thanks. If the van does not have automatic temperature control, then a resistor block, rather than a power module, has to be replaced. The power module replaces the resistor block on automatic temperature control vehicles.
Resistor Block: Fan speed is controlled by adding resistance to the circuit. High speed has no resistors in line so it will work when the other circuit, with resistors in it, has a resistor failure.
The following url, and Post #9 in particular, tells where the resistor is located on a 3rd Generation and how to replace it. http://forum.chryslerminivan.net/sho...resistor+block
Hope this is of help.
