Ran fine today, starting slipping on my way home, then only 1st and 2nd and reverse. By the time I got home ( 7 miles), coasted in with no gears. Would go into park then nada. Is it the dreaded time to, <cough> replace? Van has 170k on it.

 

Do you have a 3 speed trans or a 4 speed?

 

I acquired the van for cheap, like $100.00. It sat idle for 4 years. I have put new brake lines, battery, starter, all filters, plugs, distributor, wires, etc. into it already. The engine runs flawlessly and is clean and the interior is mint. Has minor rust on the doors. A tranny shop (Millex) advised that it needs to be rebuilt, bad pump, clutch, solenoid, etc. dry seals). Cost will be 1100.00...
