Hold on guys, i think we are not on same page. You ask about ATF level, and he thought, you are asking about engine coolant fluid, wich is antifreeze, but he looks like didn't found those two 5/16 hoses from trany to the side of radiator. And he allso mentioned he add some to expantion tank, where in the erth you found expantion tank for trany? I never here of that before. And if he talking about just radiator cooling and ATF leaking, in to a radiator, it never hapend, cuz trany and engine compartments in radiator, there is two different units, and every one of them they have owne walls. So there is two options.

1. Low ATF fluid, NOT THE ENGINE OIL, THE ATF. Pull TRANSS dip stick and see. Put van on neutral, start the engine, and then pull dip stick, And read, if the engine is hot, then look on dip stick where is hot, low and high level should be.If it's low, than add ATF through same dip stick hole. this is only the way to add ATF, and there is no expention tank for trany, on any dodge vans. And there is no way you can add ATF through radiator cap, if you did, then shortly youll here some wird engine sound. and then [RIP] for engine REST IN PEASE, on junk yard.

2. I'm shure dealer just try to hang spagety on hes ears, which is as you says BS, dealer all the time try to make customers get ripped off. You should remember that for the rest of your life, no meter how good dealer, he try to make money even on hes own kidz, I recomend dealer only in one condition. To buy new car, or exterior parts, not interior, or any electronics.Solenoids they won't fail or slipp, they are either working excellent, or not at all. So i thing # 2 is just clutch disck get worn out, and it's inside trany. And it's cost maximum $600.00 Bucks to buy. And if dealer can sell to you it will be $1700.00 or more. But he will never evet tell's you, about whole brand new from manufacturer trany never used cost only $1850.00. So some time cheaper to change trany than just one part for that much money.

I know one lady add oil in to a radiator cuz she thought this is where you have to add oil to engine, and next days she towed her car to junk yard. So beter watch what you adding and to where, every cup should say. Under hood only 5 or 4 caps and 2 dip sticks.

You didn't read close enough, we were talking about two different things. I know the difference between transmission fluid, coolant and engine oil and where they all go, thank you.

More info: I borrowed an ob2 scanner from a friend. The following codes are locked in. I cleared them and they came right back again. The engine light never did come on so I didn't think to look for codes right off. Thoughts?

PO303, PO1782, PO733, PO700, PO731

P1782 code is. Pressure switch circuit 2-4
P0733 code is. Gear 3 incorrect ratio
P0700 code is. Transmission control system (MIL Request)
P0731 code is. Gear 1 Incorrect ratio

Ok, so in checking out other info on the net, I have learned that
P0700 says that a problem was detected in the automatic transmission and other codes usually accompany this, such as the next two:

P0731 means that the gear ratio in first gear is incorrect. Meaning, what is coming in does not equal to what is coming out (transmission speed).

P0733 means the same as P0731 but regarding 3rd gear.

Is it possible that that either the input and output speed sensor is bad (again)?

I definitely have a leak, no doubt, but just wondering if a bad speed sensor is what is making it undriveable....and I also wonder if they are going bad because they are in the vicinity of the solenoid which is leaking and possibly leaking fluid on them?

...and I did check the fluid again today, in neutral, and it is where it should be on the stick... warm. I left the engine running for awhile (in neutral) and checked it again and it was a little under hot

one thing if your transmission shifts at all, it's not a speed sensor issue. this is were having a scanner with live data is really handy cuz u can see what the computer sees from the sensors so you dont just haphazardly throw parts at it.

I know what i am about to ask will cost some $$$, But need some answers form the TCM. Go to the local dodge dealer and have them hook up the DRB3. You need to have the tech write down the CVI reading, Clutch test, and battery switch reading. If the transmission has CVI's within specs and passes the clutch test, but battery switch goes from 12v to zero. Then 99% of the time the solenoid pack is causing your trans to go into limp in mode. Replace the spark plug on number 3 cyl and ck the wire with a DVOM or replace the wire, if the engine doesn't misfire anymore then replace the rest of the plugs and wires.
