Default Headlamp problem, half brightness on pass side.

I have had a horrible problem with the headlamp on my mothers 1997 grand caravan. It started last winter, the one lamp is just barely on. I changed the bulb and it didnt fix it. The problem was happening sparatically for the first 2 months, but after that it was constant. Has anyone seen this sort of problem? It is totally strange to me. I have not run a new ground, i will try that if i don't get another option. Also, the brights indicator on the dash is half on all the time also. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks for reading.

It's totally obvious you have a bad connection with an unwanted resistance. You need to start with the ground wire.

I would agree. Check your grounds.

I had this same problem with my '97 Caravan, inc. the very dim blue high beam indicator.

Started in Nov.2007 on driver's side & Dec.2007 on the passenger side.

Your problem is the plug that connects to the headlight bulb. If you pull the plug off the bulb and look inside it, you'll see the corrosion.

I went to the auto wreckers and picked up a few good plugs off wrecked Caravans. I cut them off with the longest amount of wire I could get.

I cut the old ones off right at the plug.

I soldered the the wires together, making them about 2-3 inches longer than before, which makes it a lot easier to change burned out bulbs.

Good luck.
