Default Power Liftgate inop

Anyone had problems with there power liftgate. I have a 2004 ex and when I
use the overhead or FOB the lights flash and it beeps, the latch disengages
but it never lifts. It makes a groaning sound like the lift motor is turning. I can see the motor turning when I command it to go down but its like the gear pivot arm isn't engaged. I checked the pinch sensors and they are good. Opened the latch motor and it looks good. How much to get codes scanned and would weak struts cause this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ck the BCM/FCM for door codes, you may find you have a code for the liftgate latch. Replace the liftgate latch and clear all codes. Also have the dealer update all door modules.

Thanks MT,
I looked on https://www.dodgeparts.com/ and the show two latches,

one W/o cinch 01-07 $156.00

the other W/cinch 2004 $91.70

I have power locks, which one do I need ?

By the latch do you mean the motorized unit in the lifgate?

Thanks for your help! This thing is tough, normally I can diagnose problems like this with the factory service manuals, but I cant seem to get my head around this, a DRB scanner would be nice but they not cheap.

I would give the dealer a call and give them the vin number and they can tell you the part number for that van. After you get the part number, then you can ck aftermarket.
