Programming remote keys 2004-2007
Has anyone had a used key (the type with a remote as part of the key) re-programmed for a different vehicle?
The owner's manual says can't be done. But then who buys all the blank key blades/shells sold on eBay? I mean, why would you buy a blade blank if not to use the key/remote on another vehicle?
I want to buy a couple of used key/remotes from a junkyard for $5 (as opposed to $100-160 new), put new blades on them and have the dealer reprogram them. My dealer will program any number of keys for a flat $50 but doesn't know if used ones can be re-programmed. They've never done it.

If you have blank keys for your van. The dealer may cut them for you, but need to bring the van and show that you are the owner of the van. The dealer will not cut a key for anyone that comes off the streets with a vin number.
Master tech, I appreciate your taking the time to answer, but please read the question first.
The question is "can a dealer re-program a USED key (with integrated remote) to a different vehicle?"
Yes I'm aware that I need to bring the van in and show proof of ownership. That wasn't the question.
