Default 2003 Dodge Grande Caravan leaking water on passenger floor

My Caravan is leaking rainwater on psngr floorboard during rain. Cleaned firewall drains. Any ideas would be a help as mildew is really getting tough to bear.

The a/c drain is a common problem, the water comes out the drain and instead of dripping off, it runs back up the under side of the drain tube back inside the car. The factory fix is to put an oring on the tube to get the water to drip and not follow the tube.

Plugged firewall drains are also very common, then the water runs in the fresh air intake and out through the blower motor housing. you don't have a sunroof, do you?

I'm having the same problem with my '97 GC, but can't locate the condensate hose. Is it visible from the engine compartment, or must I look underneath?

This problem is very common and is usually the ac drain, and the repair is easy.

The problem is that the drain tube has a notch on the bottom side of it that goes almost to the firewall. The water travels down this notch and winds up on the passenger side floorboard.

There were two solutions offered by dodge. One was the o-ring on the tube that was useless, and the other is a small rubber tube that has a 90% angle that slips on the drain tube, equally useless as it often does not cover the entire notch, and it costs about $8.00. I used the dodge tube and o-ring together and I still got flooded.

So here is the definitive low cost solution; get a piece of nylon or rubber tubing with a 5/8 inch inner diameter that's about 1.5-2 inches long an put it on the drain tube. Push it all the way on, as close to the firewall as possible, ensuring that the entire notch is covered. It will be difficult to push on so lubricate the tubing or drain pipe first.

This should cost you around twenty five cents and take about 15-20 minutes. Within a day or two your soaked floorboard will magically be dry.

Also, if you think that the drain is clogged, take a long zip tie and insert it through the drain first. You'll feel restriction after a couple of inches is inserted but just keep pushing.

Good luck

The latest repair is to seal around the tube with silicon sealer. Have not had a comeback using this method.
