Did you look on the driver side frame rail behind the front bumper behind the inner splash shield? thats where I'd look. are you thinking of just tossing in another one?

REMOVAL

NOTE: If transmission control module is being replaced with a new or replacement unit, the Pinion Factor and Quick Learn procedures must be performed.
  1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
  2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  3. Remove left front tire/wheel assembly.
  4. Pull back splash shield to gain access to TCM location.
  5. Disconnect TCM 60-way connector.
  6. Remove three (3) TCM-to-rail screws and remove TCM from vehicle.

Crap, I can't do that job, I cant get past step 2. Now what do I do? Is there some other tool I could use in place of #2?
IDK what a 1996 has to do with this man's post. I guess I could have wrote 'on my 1995 the tcm is on the firewall' but that sure wouldn't do much good for someone with a 1996 where the tcm is on the inner fender in front of the strut tower on the passenger side
