Default 2000 caravan and e-break light not coming on

we need to get our tags renews and in safety ins it failed because jiffy lube said that when you pull the e-break the light in dash board is not coming on. Hubby checked and says that when you first put keys in ignition and all lights on dash that are suppose to come on all but e break light comes on. He checked the fuse under the dash where the gas paddles are. They are all fine. Is there a fuse for e break or what could be wrong?

Thanks

Welcome to DF
First i would ck the switch on the ratchet assy, see if it is plug onto the switch. Then if it plug in, i would unplug it and ck for power with either a 12v test lite or a dvom. If you have power, then the problem maybe the switch. You can also ground the tab on the end of the switch too. This will complete and circuit and the lite should come on at the dash.

The red lite comes on only for a few seconds, thats called a bulb ck. Does the lite come on when you push down on the park brake pedal? If its not the bulb could be burnt out. And if it comes on, i would about the lite not working on abulb ck. Jeffy lue maybe trying to sell you something that doesn't need to be fix.

I would not worry about the bulb ck on the dash. Did you notice the didn't come before jiffy lube told you had a problem? As long as the lite comes on when you push down the ratchet, the circuit is working. I or any of the members can tell you, well you need a cluster, ignition switch, and a BCM. Why waste money on something you don't need to waste time in. Does the yellow ABS lite come on with the bulb ck?

we checked the bulb and apparently there was no bulb that we could tell, went to dealer and got a bulb. The light comes on now but it is on all the time now. So what could be wrong and what we get about .7 volts at the ratchet assembly with brakes up and about .2 volt with the ratchet assembly with break down engaged.

The switch on the e-brake pedal can make the lamp come on, there is a switch on the master cylinder that can make it come on if the fluid level is low.
