Default Basic Model Vans

Hi guys,

We recently bought a 3.3L 2007 Dodge Caravan from the US and imported to Canada a couple days ago.

It is completely brand new and with the 12,000km of driven distance, it was very good for the price we got it.

The only thing annoying is that the model is VERY basic. No power locks, no power windows, no keyless entry, and no alarm.

My uncle from the US bought us a keyless entry and alarm system but we haven't installed it yet and I was wondering, since we only have manual locks will the keyless entry system work? How much harder will it be to install?

Me and my dad are both mechanically literate and operate... so as long as it isn't too complex we can rewire, soldier, ect...

- Also, we still have our old 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan laying around. It has power windows/power locks/alarm ect..., any chance we can use this car's part (if any part is needed) for the 2007 model?
- Would I need these keyless motors from ebay?: http://tinyurl.com/ydorwwc

In order for the alarm fob to unlock the doors you have to have power door locks ... or put them in.

How much difference in price for a loaded up used van?

Thanks for the reply gn300.
So do we purchase those power locks from ebay (the link I posted above) or can we use the power locks from our old 1997 grand caravan?

It was a big big difference. For $4,900 we got 2007 Dodge Caravan being only driven 12,000Km... pretty much brand new!

Welcome first of all
I would have a store like best buy or store like that in your area, to install an alarm system into the van. This way if something goes wrong, the store would have to repair the problem they cause, not you.
