Default Sea Foam Transmission Tune

Hi i just bought a 2002 3.3 V6 dodge caravan for my wife The thing is in great shape but has 220K (kms) I noticed that is shifted a little rough sometimes and the tranny was allso sweating/leaking a tiny tiny bit from the gasket between the tranny and engine looks like it been doing that for many years and the fluid was a little low but still extrmely red so I put in a can of seafoam trans tune it says for best results drain fluid after but I am Ok to leave it in there tho aren't I ?? anyone use this product in there van or any dodge vehicle for that matter let me know would love to get some input Thanks

Welcome to the other side,

I know the van is for you wife. I would not add sea foam to the trans. I would find out where the leak is coming from and fix it. These transmissions are not like your truck transmission or mine.

I already put about 3/4 of a can in there u think I'm OK to leave it for a while I don't really have time to take it in for a bit .... like i said the fluid was nice and red I think it would have been replace not to long ago but it was a little low now I'm back at factory recommended level with that stuff in it ,, do u think its gonna free up all sorts of junk and mess up my filter??? Its a off- lease car so the maint has been great all its life tho... anyways let me know Thanks

I don't know if its going to hurt the trans. Just keep an eye on it.

Yeah for sure, I have been doing some research and they say that its supposed to clean out any gunk or moisture out of the tranny valves and gears which of course turns the fluid black after doing this,,,, The bottle says drive 8kms then do a flush Well I have driven 350kms and the fluid is still perfectly red does anyone not agree that the tranny was so clean that there was no gunk build up hence the fluid stayed red and the seafoam website says its perfectly safe to run with it in there all the time I would love to hear some more input from anyone I heard allot of diff things on the other forums about how good and how bad the tranny additives are So far Im happy My tranny shifts Great and the fluid dint darken at all...... anyways happy to be a dodge owner there the toughest vehicles around............

I had added 1/2can of transtune and left it there. Oil is still bright red and shifts improved significently. I have driven 15k miles since and no harm.
I had added transtune to 1995 maxima, and left it there for 30K miles, no problem till i sold the car.

But my van has a small tranny leak (from the back side) which need about 1/2qt oil per 1000miles.
