Default 2010 Outside temperature gauge ?

I have a 2010 Grand Caravan. Why does the temperature gauge on the dash take several minutes to read the outside temp? My previous van, 1999 LE Caravan calulated it right away. Just curious if this is normal on the newer models. Thanks!

It may take up to 60 seconds after key on to register current temp and under certain circumstances, the vehicle will need to be moving to update the temp. Since the sensor sits in front of the condenser and radiator, it will not update if it thinks the reading could be compromised.

My SUV does the same thing and its a 2004. Take about 60 second some times 2 mins to update. I wouldn't worry.
