Exclamation Please Help! P0725 "Speed Input Circuit Malfunction"

Hi everyone,

Whie driving my 03 Dodge Caravan home from work, the check engine light came on and the Van went into Limp-in mode. The Van runs and starts fine, it is just stuck in limp-in mode. I stopped and got the codes read on the way home. P0700 and P0725. I have been searching around for a while and understand that P0700 just lets you know there is an error in the transmission module.

P0725- Engine Speed input Circuit Malfunction...

Looking through other posts and different sites I have seen a few different takes on this. There are two things that I am thinking are causing the problem.

1. Crank Position Sensor
2. Transmission Input Sensor

I am not sure what sensor I should replace and if this is even the solution to the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Ck the crank sensor wires, if they look okay(not melted together) replace the crank sensor.

if all fails, pull the little mini fuse at the top of fuse box, disconnect the battery for 30 secs and then reconnect the battery and put fuse back in. Crank van and see if that works.

The sensors should have a seal on the connector to keep the moisture out. You can add some dielectric grease to the sensors.

Just curious. The crankshaft position sensor supplies the input the tachometer uses to display rpms. Is the tach display irratic or dead? It would be another reason to change then crank sensor. Another would be if the van stalled now and then. Also you might try inspecting the contacts on the TCM connections for corrosion or damage.

EDIT *** Just found this: http://www.trnw.net/fixdata-display....=ottowerx:5830 Not implying this is what will fix your van just saying here's one possiblility.
