Default Limp Mode

My son has a 95 Caravan stuck in limp mode. He put a new trans filter and ATF4 fluid in it and it shifted perfect the first time it was driven. Also he says if you take off in a hurry it will shift fine until you slow down then it jumps down into second gear. How do you test for codes on the 95?

Welcome to DF
There is a blue connector under the dash near the fuse box panel. This is for the transmission controller and abs. Pull the codes for the transmission and post.

Do you use a obd reader?

I would use a DRB2 or DRB3. I don't think a obd code reader would work.

Is that something a dealer would have to do?

If you have a friend that works at a dealer, ask them to pull codes out for you. Or someone you know at the dealer.
