Default sliding doors flash hazard lights

I have a 2007 Grand Caravan with 3.8L. When I open the sliding side doors the hazard lights flash for 10 seconds or so. In the manual it describes how to turn this feature off, so lights do not flash, using the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC). Manual also says to use the EVIC “if so equipped.” There is no reference showing what EVIC looks like or where it is. I may not even have an EVIC.
Could someone tell me how to turn this feature (flashing when door open s) off?
Thanks

Welcome to DF
Do you have any children? If you do, i would leave it along. The lites flash to let driver's know someone is getting out and need to watch for children or people. The EVIC would be on the headliner above the mirror.

Thanks for the reply. We do not have young children anymore, so that is not a concern. It is just irritating to flash every time you open the door to load stuff at the grocery store.
I looked at my overhead console and I do not have the feature to change the flasher. My console just determines mileage, etc.
Guess I wil have to leave it as is.

Try this. This is in the 2007 owner manual.
NOTE: The driver’s side sliding door cannot be opened
while the fuel door is open. This feature operates only
when the sliding door is fully closed prior to opening the
fuel door.
Sliding Door Open Flash
When the sliding door(s) are opened, the left and right
exterior hazard lights will flash for 12 seconds to alert
other drivers in the area that passenger(s) could be
entering or exiting the vehicle.
The Sliding Door Open Flash can be enabled or disabled
by performing the following procedure:
1. Place the key in the ignition switch.
2. Cycle the ignition switch ON/OFF four times ending
in the OFF position. (do not start the engine)
3. Within 10 seconds of the final cycle, press the hazard
switch.
4. A single chime will sound to signify that you have
successfully completed the programming.
You can turn the feature back on by repeating the above
mentioned procedure or by performing the procedure in
the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), Customer
Programmable Features section on vehicles so
equipped.
Power Sliding Door — If Equipped
NOTE: The power sliding door must be unlocked before
the switches located on the trim panel, just in front of the
power sliding door will operate.
The power sliding door may be opened manually or by
using the buttons on the remote keyless entry transmitter.
Press the buttons on the remote keyless entry transmitter
twice within five seconds, to open a power sliding door.
Once the door is fully open, pressing the button twice
within five seconds a second time will close the door.

Thanks again for your reply. I tried the four times on/off method, but I still cannot cancel the flashers. Guess I will have to live with it.

Guess I spoke to soon. I did the "four times on & off" routine and nothing happened. I vacummed the van out and tried it again - it still flashed. My wife said "thanks for fixing the flashers" yesterday and I didn't understand what she meant. Apparently it takes a while for the change to occur. At any rate, now it doesn't flash when doors slide open.

This enable/disable is good to know. I'll give this a try on our 2005 SXT.

Thanks you so much. I shall never make fun of "MASTER" techs again. My wife is ultra happy!
