Romove rear rotor on 2006 Caravan? Parking brake shoes
Need some advice regarding rear rotor removal on a 2006 Caravan. I've completed the removal and replacement of the rotor and brake pads on the passenger side, but the driver side is giving me trouble.
The challenge is the parking brake shoes. On the passenger side I was able to remove the rubber grommet and tighten the star screw to "retract" the shoes so the rotor would come off. On the drivers side, turning the star screw to tighten it is a little more difficult (I'm using a flat blade screwdriver to turn it bit by bit) because of the opposite action required.
Is there a way to remove the dust shield (or whatever it is called) to get better access to the innards? Any other advice to get the rotor off the brake shoes?
Thanks -
Matt

I'm also trying to pull the rear rotors on a 2006 Grand Caravan. It's getting annoying. I think the parking brake is hanging up on the lip of rust around the rotor.
I'd like to turn the star screw to loosen, but it looks like a cable in there is blocking me on both sides. Any suggestions on loosening the parking brake? Will a flat head screw driver do the trick?
Once I get that off, I may be replacing a stud or two since I nicked them while trying to beat the rotor off...
Thanks!!
