Default A.C. is not cold.

Hi, new to this forum. I have a 05 DGC, 3.8. with rear a/c. The a/c is not cold just slighty cool. I added 2 cans of r134, and now the compressor cycles every 5 seconds and still not cold. I did a search about this problem on this forum and seems that Tizzy 1 mentions a "h-valve" near the back of the van. Where is it located and can this be repaired by me or do I ned to take in the shop? Any help would be great. The van has 85000 miles on it so is this out of warrenty?

If the system was low, there are 2 main leak areas on an '05 minivan. One is the underbody lines that were recalled back when and I have seen many of the recall parts fail again. Look at the junction under the right rear bumper, if the line is leaking, you will see it leaking from the smaller line. The lines they connect to are called extension tubes. They go through the floor and up to the h-valve. Those tubes will leak on top of the big block and will just coat everything under there with oil. If the lines are bad, they are still covered, if it's the tubes they are not covered. The h-valve issue is with the '06 and '07 model years.

O.K. so what I did so far is I brought the van to the dealer to check for any leaks. They told me that they did not see any leaks and that they added dye to the system and then recharged it. I did look under the rear and did not see any oil on anything. What is your thoughts on adding a small leak sealer to the system? I did see some at Walmart, but do they work? The system is charged now and can I add the sealer to it?

Sealer is a big no-no. It plugs everything, a/c machines, h-valves, you name it. Most new a/c machines have sensors to detect sealer and if you have it in the system they won't work on it. Chances are good that it will be the recall or the extension tubes. Give it a couple of weeks and then look under there. the dye is yellow so it should be easy to see.

always check for simple thinks
1.check low side(thicker pipe-has to be ice cold-if not)
2 put ac gauges on it-read the numbers
3if everything is OK (you said no leek) just clean evaporator and condensation coils

Or stop using cheap alluminum. This is what happens when you try to save a buck in the wrong place.

I had the van in the dealer to check for any leaks, and they found no leaks. The system was low on r134 so I hope it stays cold for now. Thanks.
