Default Stow 'n Go seat leg retraction problem

My 2005 Grand Caravan SXT has a rear bench seat whose legs will not retract into the seat when folded down into the floor. There is a small cable and spring that are damaged and need to be replaced. The Dodge dealer ordered what I thought to be the replacements and I got a larger spring with no cable. I was then informed that there was a TSB part number 05159208AA kit ($170.00) to repair the problem.

I can't fathom spending that kind of money for a small cable and spring. Can anyone help me out here?

The cable breaks, you can take it apart and see if you can fix it. Otherwise your stuck buying the repair kit.

I have the exact same problem. the cable has a plastic retainer at the one end and it broke in half one day. Thought it would be a simple thing to order a replacement cable for the retracting legs. not simple, dealer wanted to sell me a whole seat assembly.

Im trying now to make my own cable, I have the eye on one end just have to design the part at the other end. I cant believe that with the thousands of these stowngo 2005 vans that were sold and they dont even offer a cable for the rear legs. they have a cable set to release the hooks / latches but not for the legs.

frustrated. completly. 48,000 KMs and piles of problems.

Alan, there is a repair kit available for the leg issue, you don't need a whole seat. The part number is on the first post.

About 4 or 5 inches on the double seat. The single seat is fine.

lay the seat down and lift up the cover flap. The large spring that is connected to the cable is probably stretched and needs to be replaced.

And it looks like if you need the spring, you have to buy the same repair kit that dasidave needed. Part number listed above but goes to an AB
