I have a 2002 Grand Caravan Sport. It has 6 speakers and a tweeter looking thing on the rear post.

First - Is there a Sub woofer in this thing some place? Man it sure sounds like it. What kind or size and where is it located.

I just installed a DEH-P5200HD head unit and its associated XM box. It had a JVC deck from 2003. What an improvement!

It is not the Infinity speaker system (no infinity logos anywhere) but man it sure sounds MUCH better. Even the Bass is clean and fairly tight. This Pioneer is killer.

What I want to know is how much trouble is it to change the speakers? It seems like when you start ripping panels off they never go back the same or as tight.
Can I get a general pain in the A description? The dash looks like a real pain.

REMOVAL
D-PILLAR SPEAKER
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove rear header trim (right side speaker).
Remove jack cover (left side speaker).
Remove liftgate scuff plate.
Remove upper seat belt bolt. Partially remove quarter trim panel to access the D-pillar speaker.
Slide the speaker from the retainer (D-PILLAR SPEAKER).
Disconnect the wire harness connector from the speaker.
FRONT DOOR SPEAKER
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the front door trim panel. Remove the speaker mounting screws (DOOR SPEAKER).
Disconnect wire harness connector and remove speaker from door.
INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the A-pillar trim.
Remove instrument panel top pad.
Remove speaker screws (INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER).
Disconnect wire harness connector and remove speaker.
QUARTER PANEL SPEAKER
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the quarter trim bolster.
Remove speaker retaining screws (QUARTER PANEL SPEAKER).
Disconnect wire harness connector and remove speaker.

no sub woofer. 2 in the dash, 2 woofers in the doors, 2 or 4 in the rear quarter depending on the system level

 

WoW, I have a 2005 Silverado with the Bose Premium system and it has a little factory sub under the center console.
The 2002 Grand Caravan with the Pioneer head unit sounds better as far as Bass goes.

I sure would like to see the speaker schematics for the van.
