You'll need the biggest cheater bar you have to get that sucker loose.

After that it's not a bad job.

Advice- Be MOST careful with the trans seals! Leaks suck!! Lube the new shaft before you install it.

PinCup
Would an Impact gun be to much to remove the nut?

Thanks Master Tech.

As I'm going over this, the one thing the book says is replacing the oil seal. Should it be done, even with no leaks seen?

Thanks.

Well the job is half done. Got the drive axle out and decided to take a coffe brake. Had to loosen a brake line bracket to get the axle out, other than that pretty easy. I used a 10 inch naill puller pry bar to pop the axle out.

One thing I would like to say is thank god for the impact gun.

Just finsihed a few hours ago. Took it for a quick test drive and it looks like that cured the sound. All in all was pretty straight forward. I found the hardest thing was removing the oil seal. I went out and bought a seal puller but all it did was bend the outer flap. I then used a thin slot screwdriver to pry and pop it out.

When i bought the seal puller I also picked up a seal installer kit, but I found using a piece of wood easier.

Going to take it for a long test drive tonight for a final verdict.

The next one will go sooo much easier now that you know what to do. Glad to see it didn't fight you too much.
