Default 01 T&C 3.8 wont start.

Wife parked the van after running an errand and it wouldn't start later. She said it was hesitating a little bit earlier in the day.
Battery is good (4 months old), fuel is getting to the rail, and she's got spark. After some digging around it seems the PCV was shot. I cleaned the MAP sensor, and shot the T-body while the missus was attempting to start the vehicle. The car started but wont accelerate without bogging down. After running for a few min I shut it down. It wont start again, and I don't want to spray any more cleaner in the t-body to get it to start.

I got no codes. If the MAP sensor was bad wouldn't it show a code?
As it stands now I'm gonna replace the PCV and the plugs, which were shot too. The wires were changed with the plugs less than two years ago.
Any other ideas about it not starting with no codes?

Second question: How the hell do I change the plugs on the back of the motor. Do I need to remove the intake manifold? I can't even see the MF'rs!

yes and it will still run with MAP disconnected. back plugs are pretty easy from underneath. but if you don't have the luxury of a hoist, then take off the wiper module assembly (15min job tops. then the whole world opens right up for the plug access.

it's pretty hard to just guess at why it won't start. I'm going to throw a guess that it has a broken flex plate which throws timing way out of whack causing hard start, no start, no power, no acceleration.

I hope it's not that. I haven't pulled a trans from a FWD yet.

well without enough diagnostic information, my guess is as good as anyone else.

Although I said it had spark, it thought it failed on an attempt just prior to starting. You could be onto something...

a real scanner would be the first tool needed for accurate diagnosis. to determine the flex plate issue, it can be done with a timing light, but a dual trace scope is more accurate.

I hate to sound ignorant but there's no timing marks visible on the crank pulley. Could the timing be taken off another pulley? I saw what looked like marks (with no degree indication) at the rear, passenger side of the engine bay but this was at least a foot away from the crank?

I pulled the T-body and cleaned it, replaced the plugs and PCV, and still no luck. I might have to bring it to a shop at this point to run diagnostics.

To try an explain how I do this with a timing light would probably be way beyond your means.

did you verify you have fuel pressure?
