HELP PLEASE - Trans questions
I recently bought my mother a 2005 grand caravan SXT. It is in beautiful shape, 1 owner, garage kept...blah blah. Anyway, it has been a while since I have driven a newer car with automatic transmission, so this might be normal but I just dont know. When moving from a stop, gears 1 and 2 work smoothly but when it gets in high 3rd gear the RPMs drop and it almost feels like it shifted into 4th(but it hasn't) or I lose power or lose a cylinder. If I gas it, it kicks in and will shift to 4th. What I've read so far explains that newer tranies use a "locking torque converter". What I understand is that because of "momentum" and i'm not really "continuing to accelorate", to save gas and whatever other reason, the torque converter will lock, not letting the trans slip up into 4th.
Someone, please help. I know nothing about cars and am at a loss. This car is still under factory warranty and under 90 day warranty from the
dealership. Is what I am reading about the locking converter correct?
Oh, and the engine light came on once but went back off.
Please please please help!

This transmission will go into lock up in 2nd,3rd and 4th gears at the right RPM's. What i would is find out if you have a store ck engine lite code.Chrysler's lock up torque converters have been around a long time,1989 thru now.Once you have the store code, then post it.
