Default 1998 Dodge Caravan 3.3L

Had just fueled up and was heading to work when it just died. Has a solid red oil light on and will not start up. I know its not the oil as I just changed the oil and oil filter 2 weeks earlier. It turns but will not start. Could it be the fuel pump? Any help would be appreciated.

how did it die? like turning off the key or spitting and sputtering like it ran out of gas. Did you check for codes?

No sputtering or spitting. Was going 55mph on cruise when it just started losing speed. Haven't checked for codes at this time as it is sitting at my home and I don't have a code checker.

When you have the van ck'ed for codes, post them. You could have loss of of the sensors.

Yeah, Cam or Crank sensor could cause a sudden loss on go-down-the-roadness.
You can do the "Key Dance" to get codes form the check engine light.
Key Dance = ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON with 10seconds. count the flashes of the MIL.
The Chilton/Haynes manual will help guide you through that, and help you with codes and operation therory.

If mine did what yours did...
I'd check,
-Key Dance it for codes.
-listen for fuel pump when you turn the key. (it should hum for a few seconds after you turn the key until the system is up to pressure)
-check for pressure in the fuel rail. (pop the cap, depress the center pin with a baby screwdriver, (have a rag handy) fuel should exit under presure)
-are the injectors clicking. (a long screwdriver on the injector and held to your ear while a helper cranks the engine)
-check for spark. (if you dont have a spark checker, a screwdriver in the boot and held near ground while a helper cranks the engine work too.)

Good Luck,
EZ1

Did the key dance and it just stays solid then goes off. Or is there a certain way to do the key dance, cuz I did on-off-on-off-on real quick.

Some years chysler stop doing the key cylce test for codes. Yours maybe the year that they stop doing it on.You need to really have a scanner to ck for your codes.

solid red oil light means no oil pressure. just because the oil is full doesn't mean that you have oil pressure. so maybe you blew the engine

the red oil light has nothing to do with codes, if it's on there will be code given for this light!!!!!!!!!
