I'm hoping the sealed box the heater core is in didn't permit liquid leakage in the form of steam inside my cabin.

you know you could have pressure tested the heater core without going through removing the dash. unless you had an antifreeze smell and fogging of the windows, you don't have a heater core leak. in fact if you did have coolant steam in the hvac system your windshield would be coated with coolant residue which is hard to clean off. I suspect you're chasing after the wrong problem. master tech said if the heater core was leaking you'd have coolant coming out of the a/c drain hose which is on the passenger side of the vehicle.

master tech is a master no where am I reading where he thinks you need the heater core replaced yet you're tearing into that before actually diagnosing it.

I did see water and coolant leaking out of the drain tube and why else would I see that?

oh, i didn't see that statement in all the postings. funny I see so many people having some really weird problems with their vans that I've never encountered and I've owned over 200 of them.

( I use to flip minivans when the economy was good)

I have the HVAC housing all apart? The manuals all said there were two heater cores in this Grand Caravan which I can now prove them wrong? The front or only heater core has a residue coolant trail in the housing too the drain system! This which was a 99 made in Canada has one heater core and one ac evaporator core. I'm changing the heater core and will post an update when finished!

if you have rear heating package you'd have 2 heater cores.

be aware that sometimes the evaporator is mistakenly called a heater core since it looks similar.

despite a terminology, don't worrry about the semantics, just get the problem solved.

you are the first I've heard of a heater core failing in a minivan.

You do have two heater cores,if you have rear heat/ a/c. The other heater core is in the rear of the van in the right rear qt panel. In the front you will have one heater core and an a/c evap, like sapporo had said.

Default 1999 Grand Caravan cooling system help?

Well changed the front heater core and fixed the leak! Now, I have the air bag light on and the check engine light illuminated on my dash? My fluids are all good and I had the freeon gas recharged! Any suggestions? I am about to go on an 800 mile trip Friday morning.
I so wish I had auto md! How about some direction on retrieving my error codes? I remember turning the key on and off three times but already tried that?
