I have a 2000 grand caravan 3.3. The mil came on and the garage said that no codes area displayed. A friend lent me his code reader and it scanned and no codes came up. Any suggestions be fore it goes to the dealer? It does have trouble starting I think it may be a solenoid, battery is checked and fine, and occasionally the air bag light has flickered on and off.

When did the mil come on? Long crank time could be the fuel pump, that wouldn't leave a code.

 

the mil came on will driving to emissions test what luck.
The mechanic said there were no codes, so in researching I was wondering if it could be a short somewhere or a bad chip?
It starts pretty well, sometimes I get a click and I do the key dance and it starts.

 

you checked the transmisson controller for codes also? They will also illuminate the mil.

 

I didn't know that there was a transmission controller where is it or doesn't it have a code?

if the MIL is on, then there is a P---- code!!!

try a different source to read codes

try cycling the key from off-on-off-on-off-on and wait a couple seconds the light will start flashing, if you don't have ADD it'll be easy to get out a code. you should see it blink short pause blink blink for a code 12.

 

Not always. I have seen a loose neg battery cable cause the ck engine lite to come on without any P....codes.
