Question just bought a 2000 grand caravan and could use some help

first off nice to meet you guys,
ok i just bought this 2000 grand caravan with a 180000 miles on it. for my wife and am working out the bugs.
the van is nice and tight and runs strong. most things i got fixed all ready.

but the dinger that comes on when at 600 to 700rpm at idle. raise the rpm to 1000 and it goes away. stomped on this one. and the check engine light bulb was busted.

back vent motors do not work. but i do have 12 volt going to them. took them out and it made a few turns and quit again. but i still have power when i push the switch.

and the bulbs that go in the serves engine spot where do you find them? it is a one peace unit. never seen this before most are a two peace and all you have to do is pull the bulb.

3.3 how many miles are they good for before you should tare them down? and are they good motors?

and the trans if i baby it it dose good. but if i run it a little hard it shifts funny. you do not have to push the gas petal down very far to drop out of over drive and some times it likes to hunt for gears till i push the petal down farther. trans seams real touchy would like to be able to push the gas pedal down more before it comes out of OD

seems like you need a lot of help with this one. Engine is good for over 500,000 miles with good care.

bench test the rear motors, apply power and ground to the motor right at the motor this will help analyze the problem. I've never encountered problems with these motors and I've owned 100's of these vans (I've been a car dealer for many years)

The transmission needs to be analyzed by someone with knowledge and tools to determine it's condition. There isn't anything you can do without a scanner to analyze the true condition. Some might suggest you change the fluid and filter or disconnect the battery. Some might even state you should change sensors, solenoid pack or TCM.

that is good to know about the motor. and i will check the vent motors in the back like you said.

i did get one problem figured out the dinging i am hearing is from the oil presser being low. maby a bad censer will get a new one tomorrow. the bulb was yanked out of that spot so the light would not come on. it just has a low flicker to it. and that is probably what is setting my service engen light to. fixed the dimer light by just clinging it. so the bugs are being nerowed down. hope this van is a good van when i am done fixing every thing.

oh, that's a serious problem. someone pulled bulbs and dumped the van. If it was me, I'd be really PO'd and probably going back to the guy I got the van from with a can of whoopa$$

I'd use a real scanner. if the light is on, there has to be something causing it.
