Hi everyone, I'm new and just joined. I need help with this! My dad has a 2000 dodge caravan 3.3 L . Well my bf has put in a new radiator, battery, and alternator. But now it WONT start!!! It ran but now won't start. It's been at my bf dads shop and he wants to get rid of it... I've been very upset for awhile. Can someone plz help n tell us what we need to do? Thank you so much!

ok what was wrong before it you started throwing parts at it? could be as simple as wiring to the alternator not tight or connected? battery connections? battery should i think read about 12-14volts. hopefully mastermechanic or others can help. check fuses too. could be also if alarm or key security as well.

 

I know what's wrong. there's a loose wire!

 

It had multiple issues: battery light will come on, alternator was not putting out, this one check engine light came on, it was staying on and we found out that it was a coolant code. Also found out radiator had a hole... So we replaced that. We put in fresh battery and alt. At the same time, ran it for awhile to bleed the coolant system, came back a week later to finish up on some things and car spun over but did not start. Right now: we had to jump it, car started up and ran fine.

 

At the time, was also thinking it was a TW sensor? The way it was hard starting. The van has 293K. When we got it, it had 270K . Thank you for your help

 

If you jump start the van and then runs, You may have a draw thats making the battery go dead. Other than that, iwould start checking for loose wires like sapporo had said or shorted wires, Maybe around the cam or crank sensors?

it spun over but wouldn't start? but if you jump it then it starts? even though when you crank it turns but won't start but when you jump it, it starts?

 

The starting problem came about when I came back a week later to finish. I had a jump box and either way it wouldn't start that morning. So it sat for a few months and now it starts up well with a jump box .

 

what's a TW sensor?

 

Tw sensor is a coolant tempature sensor. It tells the computer how cold it thinks the engine is to regulate fuel.
