i have a 2001 chrysler voyager 3.3, 160000 miles and bad heads, i thought i would be easer to change engine which i may if it was another car. i have every thing disconnected and trying to lift out the engine but cant get the fly wheel to clear the bell housing, should the engine come out above or take it out below?,or should the engine and trans come out togetter? i am second guessing my self it this point and thinking reinstalling the engine and taking the heads off my 80000 mile donor engine. and not the best time of the year to work in the drive way.

It comes out the bottom. Best if both engine and tranny come out together. Only way to get it out the top is to remove tranny mount and tip tranny. Not a great idea.

 

You can replace the engine either way. I have taking them out from the top and from the bottom. Its your choice on how you want to replace the motor.

 

I myself like to drop em together out the bottom

 

Thanks,i am putting a canopy around the van with a heater then i will try to drop the engine it is already disconnected from the trans so i try remove with out the trans. i did think about just trading it in on a new one but i dont want a payment cheaper to fix it. thanks agin for all your help.
