It's going to be tough without a scan tool. The door ajar switches are inputs to the BCM and then it turns on the lights. And if you have power sliding doors, the ajar info is transmitted over the bus to the BCM.

im assuming the previous owner had this problem, being that they had disconnected the driverside sliding door wires already, rendering them powerless and sensorless. so if i were to use a scan tool, well most likely dodge :/ then they can pinpoint my bad sensor? hmm probably gonna cost me on this one

if the door ajar light is on, and you unplug the sliding door wiring and the light goes out, pretty much narrowed it down to that door. The ajar switch is part of the latch if the door isn't power.

The door has been unplugged since I got it, but the door ajar was coming on when it would rain it would start acting up. the driver door seal could be bad, but when it rains water is retained in the door jam at the fender, so I wonder if maybe the sensor has shorted out?

I own a 96 model that used to have the same Symtoms. Ajar door light and the open door bell. When I was trouble shooting this problem I notice when I close the door the switch was not getting fully push in so the door was acting like it was still open. I noticed that the rubber piece where the switch touch when the door close was not thich enough to fully detract the door Ajar switch. My fix was to stick a thum tack to the rubber and that took care of my annoying door problem. Hope this helps any one problem here. Merry Christmas.

Hey I like that. American ingenuity at it's best. If this forum had an award for simple fixes for vexing problems you would surely be in the running. On the down side, that works great on 3rd generation vans (96-00) but on later models Chrysler saw fit to get rid of the plunger switches and instead, embed the switches in the latch mechanisms - a much more expensive fix.
