Possible to install overhead rail system in a SXT?
My sxt did not come with the overhead rail system. No sunroof---just the overhead map light/computer console. Is it possible to install an overhead rail system? (is the headliner the correct shape to add the rail?) I see the plugs overhead in the headliner and I am wondering if this is for the rail system? I am wanting to add dvd to the car and this seems like the only way I can find to add a factory dvd setup. I would have to also get a dvd changer, correct head unit, and the harness from the radio to the rail for the dvd.
Any input or advice

Dodge, REALLY!
That is no joke. I wish I would have never bought my 2008 Caravan STX! What happened to the good old days when they used the same main wiring harness and add on's were plug & play. I sourced a dual screen overhead unit and VES dvd player out of a 2010 T&C to put in my 08 STX (yes I know I still need to get a REN unit to replace the crappy RES head unit). For some reason Dodge thought it would be nice to use 500 different main harnesses for this model line and it is impossible to locate the right jumpers. I ordered 2 harnesses so far and neither of them will work. The dealership is no help because on their system all it shows is generic illustrations of the parts (unlike Honda, Toyota, ect....) So now I am out around $700 and am calling it quits. I new I should have just stayed with my Odyssey! There is no reason for this to have happened. Use the same body harness and just have plugs that you tie into to add options. Hell, I remember back in the day adding a cd changer to my 1991 Prelude. I pulled a panel back in the trunk and guess what, the wiring was already ran from the factory.

since you have a 08 and i have a 10 dodge SXT not STX then they should be pretty much the same. go to another dealer and see if they search out the parts. i would think ya would probably need a complete harness though for the enternainment group. chrysler or any other car manufactor wount install anything that the vehicle was not order for. why 99 % people aint like you who add it later. and for people who do ad it they pay big $$ that it aint worth it. think of it as even if it cost a extra .01 cent per vehicle that can lead to alot of money on vehicles sales. btw after install you still need to visit a dealer for him to use the scan tool to set your options.

Sorry about that, I don't know why I put STX. I wish I was in that 99% that could afford to buy a new vehicle loaded the way I wanted it, but I'm not. I worked in auto manufacturing and you can't tell me it's cheaper to make that many different harnesses. That is more workstations and more employees. I'm not saying run the complete harness for options not installed on the vehicle. I am just saying have the same main harness and have the ability to add an option and it comes with a harness that plugs right into the main one. I bought the complete entertainment harness and it will not plug into my existing harness. Do you have a dealership in mind that would be able to help?

Did you ever get a part number for the harness? I am trying to install a dual overhead monitor system into my GC with my REN dvd. I have been on the phone with multiple dealers and no one is really willing to help me find the harness that runs from the radio to the overhead console. I have already ordered on part that everyone to me would work but it doesn't connect to the console... I am really getting frustrated. Any help is appreciated.
