I have noticed a trend. Almost every time gas prices go up, the complaints about fuel economy come up. I had a 98 Voyager with a 3.0 that got 26 mpg consistently for it's 290,000 mile life. Dumped it for a Ram in 05. My mother was getting 24 with hers, she had a 99 caravan 3.0. She recently bought a 2009 G/C with a 3.8, Stow and Go and all the bells and whistles, and gets 17mpg. The 98, and 99 were stripped down no frills vehicles with an adequate engine of sufficent size and power to get the job done. the 09, on the other hand is a much heavier van with a bigger engine because of all of the safety and other "essentials" that we all think we now need in our lives. More power and weight takes more fuel. Who needs a 4.0 in a minivan? The 4.7 in my Ram pulls like a mother. Never felt the need for a Hemi, even though I could have put one in it. Look behind you, is there anything in the back that you don't need in there? Extra weight means more fuel. Does anyone own a Dodge that thinks it gets good mileage? I bought mine because they last almost forever, not for the mileage. A car the size of my Neon, should average 35-38 MPG, and all I can get out of it is 28-30 driving gently. I keep it because it runs like new at 236,000 miles, even if I don't get the mileage of a Prius.

I treated engine and transmission and got 10% fuel economy.
Now my average drop down from 14.91 LPH to 13.42 LPH. I save 1.47 L per hundred km in City. With Gus price $1.35 this about $2.00 and Ill get my money back in 10000 km. Treatment lasts for 50000 km. its almost $800.00 saving just in fuel.

2002, 3.3L with 298,000 kms, with an average of 11.6L/100. It's a work vehicle so I have a mixture of highway and city. Last fall I did see a slight increase, but changed the plugs to the new Bosch Fusion plugs and saw a .2L/100 drop in consumption. The thing is pretty close to spec on emission tests.

OK my 94 dodge caravan with 3.3 when i got it was at 17-18 MPG . I added new wires/plugs/trans /oil/air filter and put in a Hydrogen booster . I got 26 mpg city 30 highways with the booster. Now i removed it and im constantly geting a 24 mpg 27 highway. The reason why i removed it is because its not 100% safe and now i drive my nephew and niece around from schools.

Averaging about 16 plus litres per 100 kms here ....Chryslers numbers are not attainable in real world.

i now own a 2010 caravan with 3.3L V6 &flex fuel option

before, my 2002 caravan run 8.7L/100 easy on highway

now , the 2010 cannot do better than 10.5L/100 on highway and
city mileage run up like crazy !

i monitor my live comsuption with a SCANGAGE (excellent tool)

i suspect 3 issues:

1- flex fuel system made things worst ?

2- engine are buil stiffer & tight wich lead to mort heat
& less economy ?

3-2010 has worst aerodynamic ?
