I think some clarification of the history might be helpful. Sentences with punctuation would also help us figure out what you are saying.

When using the turn signal lever to make a rt turn the left turn signal indicator lights up and the left turn signal lights go on not the rt signal lights. very strange

Welcome to DF
It sound like you are getting a feedback in the turn signal circuit. Make sure you have all the connected bulbs in the van. Or a bad ground wire.

What happens when you try to make a left turn? Does everything work properly then?

If what Master Tech suggested doesn't work, you could try this. When my signal lights start to do crazy s**t, this is what I do. I pull and push the flasher in and out of the socket rapidly several times. This solves the problem for me .... until the next time it happens (usually about a week). I believe it is caused by a bad connection in the socket.

If replacing one of the bulbs fixed the problem temporarily, you likely have a bad connection in the bulb socket. Probably some corrosion in there.

The left turn signal worked correctly..... the problem was a defective multi-function switch. Replaced same, everything is working fine now cost for switch was $69.00 from dodge dealership...... thanks for all the help. I have owned my 2005 caravan since it was brand new. Had my shares of problems... rack & pionion sterring replaced, rear wheel bearings replaced and stabilizer bushings replaced and egr valve replacement, all after my warranty was expired. Otherwise I enjoy its' ride 101,000 miles shooting for 200,000 miles.
