Default Acceleration and decceleration issues 1999 Caravan

I recently purchased a 1999 caravan with about 180,000 miles. It was running perfect, then the other day it was low on gas and started shaking pretty badly when I slowed down and started to accelerate. I put some gas in it and it ran better for a short time. Now it has started again and is not low on fuel. I have noticed that it mainely does it between 20 and 40 mph, I dont have a tach so I dont know about the rpms. Could this be caused by a clogged fuel filter. Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to DF
I would try a new fuel filter. Do you know if you have a long wheel base or a short wheel base?

I believe it is a short wheel base.

OK today i put a new fuel filter on it and during the process i broke the plastic connectors on the pump so I went ahead and replaced the pump too. I put it all back together and drove it up the road and it still does the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas, vacume maybe, transmission, or something else. I can try some of the cheaper things, but I dont have much money to put into this.

How old are the spark plugs and plug wires?

I havent had time to repost due to working and trying to get this thing fixed. After checking the plugs and wires, which were fine. I replaced the throttle position sensor to no avail, still same problem. Then someone at work suggested the catalytic converter may be blocked. I removed the O2 sensor from the exhaust manifold, there was no improvement. Then out of necessity I drove it to work. Remebering that I read somewhere that it may be the torque converter I tried shifting through the gears manually on take off and when coming to a stop. The van ran perfect until I hit third gear between 20 and 30 mph. I tried holding second until after 30 mph then shifting and it worked great. After doing some research I decided to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor even though I never got any codes. I took off up the road and everything is fine runs great. So all together I spent over $200 the van was fixed by replaceing a $10 part from the salvage yard. Next time I think I will look into the problem a little further before I just start assuming I know what the problem is. Thank you to all that replied with suggestions.
