Default 2005 Caravan - T&C rattling noise

Hi,

I just bought the 2005 T&C and changed all filters as well as the oil. the recommended oil for this engine (3.8L) is 5w20. i used mobile full synthetic oil which i have been using on my 2001 caravan for the last 6 years. After the oil change I noticed a rattling noise from the engine. It sounds like the valves but is quite annoying. I don't remember hearing this noise before the change (I may be wrong). Does it mean that this engine doesn't like synthetic oil? What difference would it make if the grade remain the same? Could it be something else? I appreciate your comments.

Thanks

Try removing the fan belt first and hear if the noise is gone,if the noise is gone. Then problem is belt driven. If the noise is still there, then you need isolate where the noise is coming from.

can't help with your problem, but my 06, that is what I use, 5w20 mobil 1 full syn, no more noise then normal for mine

you could try doing another oil change with regular dino to see if it goes away

I'll let it run for another few miles before I decide for another oil change (don't want to spend another $25.00 yet).
MASTER TECH - what fan belt are you refering to? Not the serpentine belt I guess? There is no belt for the radiator fan.
Will I screw up something if I'll use the same oil as on 3.3 Caravan - 5W30? What difference would it make. I'm sorry but it bothers that the correct oil grade would trigger something unexpected. Other than that the engine runs OK.

Thanks

No he means the belt that keeps your pants up.

You bet you can screw things up using the wrong type of oil.
