Our older engines weren't designed for synthetic oils. They were made for standard oil. If I had a 2006+ i would gladly use a full synthetic oil, but until then I will not take the risk of engine crud because of a stupid motor oil. I don't mind if you think it to be the greatest or say AutoMechanix should use it, if it screws his motor up down the road then he can point his finger at somebody else. I don't want to argue about this anymore, it really is a waste of time.

You sure like to argue.
Before you try looking even more off base, you need some education.
Research Jim Halderman. He wrote the book about the engine oils. I met the man and really opened my eyes to the truth about oil.
BTW older engines love synthetics, however ZDDP needs to be added if the cam is a flat tappet.

Cool, I'm glad I'm not one of those people. I know people that have had massive sludge in 2.7 intrepid engines that never used synthetics. I know a guy with a 350 Chevy engine (1992) in a pickup never used synthetics and the valve covers were so full of sludge that I could see the inpression of the rocker arms in the build up. Oh and he changed the oil every 2000-3000 miles.

Thats a pretty bad case of engine sludge. I don't know anyone personally with a durango thats had sludge from Synthetic but a couple guys in the 1st Gen area had told me they had problems with it once I believe. Again, I am not saying synthetic isn't worth it, but I've heard stories and it makes me want to avoid it. I was considering a full fluid swap to royal purple in the engine, diff, and transmission because I see the guys on powerblock (Spike) use that stuff everywhere. And they up to a 10hp gain just from their oil.

Split fire sparkplugs were advertised that they improved HP and fuel mileage. I guess that's good enough reason to use them. Again, I talked for quite some time in a lot of detail to Jim Halderman. He is probably one of the formost authorities on lubricants. Do your research before you beleive what 'a couple guys on the internet' says will happen.
