Knocking during ignition
I recently had my minivan ('92 T&C, 3.3L V6, FWD, 4 speed Automatic) serviced (new struts, water pump, and thermostat) after my water pump died and my van briefly overheated (no damage as far as I can tell... I was stuck in traffic on the highway, and pulled over after my temp warning came on and I heard some gurgling. No steam until I pulled over and turned it off, and then a small hose cap next to the radiator cap popped letting a small amount of steam out. My overflow reservoir was empty, but in all I lost maybe a half gallon of fluid.). It has roughly 170,000 miles on it. The mechanic said I should replace my timing chain as well. Before I took it in (well, had it towed in from the overheat), there really wasn't a noticeable noise when starting the van. Since I got it back, when I turn the key, it makes a knocking/clunking sound while turning the key and the engine is turning over. As soon as I let go of the ignition, the sound stops. I just called to see if he knew what would cause that, and he said it was the timing chain.
It clunks once every time the engine turns over while turning the key in the ignition, and that's all. So if I turn the key for a second and the van starts up, it might clunk four times. Other than that, the only noise is a slight rattling while the engine is running (he said the chain may be sliding sideways and rubbing on the casing). Does the clunking actually sound like a timing chain issue, or is it possible something is hitting the flywheel or whatever it is that spins when you turn the key?

As far as I know, he just replaced the struts, thermostat, and water pump, removing and replacing whatever was necessary to get the pump out and back in. It never made the clunking noise before, unless it was too mild to be noticeable. Now it sounds like if you were spinning an egg shaped wheel and the end of the egg hit something every go around.
