I'm new at this and not sure how it works. But here we go, I have a 1999 dodge grand caravan VMI conversion w/a side ramp. My rear hatch latch release will not open the hatch from the outside of the van and I cant find a release any where on the back hatch to open it from the inside or am I missing it some where? The latch handel moves freely when it is pulled. I don't know if something came loose or broke. My question is how do I get it open short of breaking something?

There should be a small access hole in the liftgate panel, remove the access plug and reach inside the panel and open the liftgate.

 

Thanks for the info. I pulled the plug, Looked inside and didn't see anything. What should I look for and where? If I knew that may help

 

You should be able to find the link to release the latch to open the door.

Found it . The release was behind a piece of black tape used for noise reduction.
