Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum, and soon to be the owner of a new Caravan. I was just curious about breaking in a new engine so let me know if you have any suggestions on the proper way to do so, when to change the oil (1000 miles?) and what oil to use going forward (synthetic ok?). I've owned over a dozen cars so far but none new so I just want to treat it right.

The rule of thumb was 500 miles. Yes you can use synthetic oil, but once you start using it you don't to go back. Your maint light may come on at 450 miles. You can reset it by turning the key on engine off and push the gas pedal down three times, hold the pedal down on the third time and you will see maint reset.
