Third Gen transmission
My differential (I think) gave out on my '99 3.0L caravan. I know someone who is offering me a trans from a 3.3 but I don't know if it will fit. If not I am wondering; would I be better off just paying to get mine rebuilt or salvage a used on from a parts yard. I'm no mechanic, and would be getting help on the salvaging. But either way I'm getting it changed in a shop.
Would a rebuild be any more reliable than a stock trans?
Thanks

Sorry, i have had to make a new account here; there was no record of my old one.
I dont know what year it was but I was told by a mechanic the the 2 would not match. At this point I am just wondering if it's worth the risk of getting an old transmission installed rather than paying for a rebuild.

A 3.3L transmission will not bolt up to a 3.0L engine. Thats because of the hole that goes thru the bellhousing for the crossover water tube. But the good news is the internal parts are the same. You just can't use the case.
