98 Caravan AC issue
I have a 98 Caravan that I simply use to drive back and forth to work. Last summer the AC all of a sudden started "not working" occassionally. It has since went from not working every so often to "working" every so often. And after sitting in the parking lot in the Ga. heat all day it makes for one MISERABLE ride home from work. When it does work it works great and cools great just like it should. The system is charged and I have tried swapping the relay but that didn't change a thing. When it is not working the compressor is not working at all. I feel like it is an electrical problem because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This thing is driving me F'ing CRAZY.
Can someone PLEASE help me out here??????

Is the fan blowing?
You said you changed the relay, have you check the block resister?
My fan was working at only one speed then not at all.
Answer here at the forum had me check the blower resistor and it was it.
Just a thought.

All the relays and fuses are good and yes, the fan blows just fine. It just blows hot air when the ac does not work. This week it worked fine on Monday and Tuesday but then I get in it to come home on Wednesday and nothing but HOTT air.
And to answer the next question, No, the compressor does not kick on when it is not working. I even tried straight wiring the compressor to see if it would come on that way but no such luck.
And what is this block resistor that was mentioned?
Would that be the little white resistor looking thing on top of the compressor?
If this thing were a horse I would have already shot it!!!

Get a volt meter and check for the power and ground at the compressor The ground should be there already and the power comes from the AC clutch relay in the fuse box under the hood. See which one of the 2 u are missing
