Pulled into the garage last night parked and got out. Came back out later in the evening and found a pretty decent size little puddle that appeared to be coming from my rear drivers side tire. It is clearish and has a slight greasy feel. I pressed my brake peddle and nothing squirted out. I checked my fluid levels and everything appears to be ok.

Any thoughts? I know prior to this I went over a pretty decent size rock by accident in the road. Actually felt like a roller coaster going over it but I didn't hear anything.

I am at a loss! The passenger side rear tire had some liquid as well but it appeared to be condensation from the muffler?

I would have the van raised and inspect for any fluid leaks from the rear. It could be brake fluid, it maybe a small leak.

 

may be shocks? since you said you hit a big bump?

 

Verdict! The tech is stating it is coming from the rear AC unit and is normal. I asked about the greasy feel to it and he said that is normal too. They stated nothing is leaking, brakes, lines everything is good.

Does this sound right? He went into a long reason as to when it runs how it drains and that the greasyness is from what they put in it etc....he said nothing is out of the ordinary.

 

the rear evap is just behind my 06 passenger tire and it drips water too(sometimes slightly greasy feel

but I am not sure where the ac lines run on your 08 so I do not know why you would have water on both sides inless it ran from the passenger side and appeared to be comming from the drivers side(providing the ac lines are on the passenger side like my 06)

 

I think the key to the OP's question is that it is on the driver's side so no rear AC is involved. I had to have the rear driver's side brake line replaced last year due to it being corroded and leaking.
I still think that Chrysler engineers need to go to "Corrosion School" as the main issues we've had with our van have all been corrosion related, as in rear brake line, rear coolant lines, fuel filler tube, hood, oil cooler coolant line and a few other minor items.

 

I have a 2001 Dodge Durango and I notice last night that there was a brownish clear greasy substance leaking from my back passenger rear tire. I got up under the car and I don't notice anything dripping. My brakes still work fine. the inside of the back tire is completely wet. Any thoughts?

 

I would think the Durango forum is where you need to be.
