Default 2011 AC vent rattle?

We have started to have a rattle from our center (left we think) ac/heat vent in the front. When the AC is running at higher RPMs we hear this rattle noise. Sounds like either something is getting knocked around with the wind or moving around. I have tried to feel in there and poke around with a wire, didnt help. I have pushed against the trim, the vest, the panel, the ac/heat controls, doesnt help.

If we tap the plastic trim just above the AC controls between the vents hard a few times it gets quieter or stops.

Any ideas what it could be? I could take it to the dealer but if it is a known or easy fix I am happy to do it myself. Just afraid to take the new car apart.

What is in there to rattle? I thought it may be the filter but doubt it is located there.

thanks all!

I looked for TSB and a star search. Didn't find any problems with the a/c vent rattliing. You maybe the first at this time.

Thanks for looking into it. I appreciate it!

I noticed today that if I take the adjustable vent slat and position it all the way left (so it is against the solid structure) it stops or gets much quieter. So, I think it is the adjustable air vent slat that is just a bit loose. Hopefuly they can just pop a new one on. If that is indeed it.

Dodge2008,

This is Chris from Chrysler Top Care. I apologize to hear of your issue.

Since your vehicle is a 2011, I would recommend an appointment with the dealer to solve your vent noise issue. While I have heard of no other customers with this exact same concern, I am confident your dealer would be able to provide a quick resolution to the issue you have described. If you would like I could schedule an appointment to see the dealer of your preference. If I can be of any further assistance please send me a private message.

Chris,

Thanks so much for contacting me on here. I appreciate your attention to the matter and the "proactive" approach. I have an appointment with my dealer to replace a broken clip (the clip was broke when I picked up the vehicle). I am going to see if they can inspect the vent rattle on the sasme day. If I have any issues I will private message you.

Thanks again,

matt

Just curious if the dealer was able to diagnose the problem w/ the vent rattle for you. I have a 2011 Grand Caravan with the exact same problem. It's noticeable if the blower is turned up beyond half way in our vehicle, and the rattle is also coming from the left center stack vent.
