Default stuck in 2nd gear - again

I have a 1996 T&C auto with a 3.3 - it is intermittently stuck in 2nd gear. I replaced the solenoid pack & it still intermittently reverts to limp mode. Anyone have a clue what is wrong with this thing?

wire came apart in the harness? under engine there's a big yolk(y) of wires, cut the tape and I bet you find a wire apart. put it back together and your problem is fixed.
Had this happen on my van, changed everything until a dealer told me that that wiring yolk was a common cause.

What code are you getting in the transmission module?

There are no codes - as in, zero voltage to the diagnostic terminal. I did take the harness apart under the radiator several months ago, found 6 wires that were burned in 2 & fixed them. The horn & radio are dead circuits, I installed a new radio using the connection to the 12 power outlet yesterday, then this happened. All fuses under the dash & under the hood are good. I took off the kick panels under the column and a 5 minute check showed nothing that looked wrong, but I cant run the A/C because something in the vent smells very dead & rotting. Can the wiring in the dashboard cause the limp mode? I heard it is sorta easy to remove the dashboard - 6 fasteners, but I dont know where they are.

I am pulling a wiring harness for the engine bay from a junk yard this friday & putting it in to see if this helps. Getting around in 2nd gear at 35ish MPH uses a TON of gas!

I put in new input & output speed sensors, no result there. I was unable to find a matching fuse box for mine, but I did find another wiring harness. Now I just need to put that in to see if it will fix this issue.

Are you getting any voltage to the solenoid pack? And are you getting voltage to the TCM and then goes away?

Problem fixed! All I needed was a trip to the salvage yard for another wiring harness, at least the part from the tranny computer to the solenoid pack & both speed sensors, a good wiring diagram and a bit of a sunburn.
