2011 Grand caravan rough idle normal?
Hi to all, I’m new to the forum and happy to be part of this group, I have a 2011 GC Crew 5000K new purchase; I don’t experience this shudder; however I do feel the van shaking when I slowly reverse up an incline, and if you have your econo on in the city the trans will hard shift from 1st to 2nd aprox 17 kmh
I had to hold off on this as i was at a point of trading in my 2011 GC. I kept it so I will start making some captures of missfires in the next few weeks. Seems it may be related to the cam phaser position. Will start testing in the next few weeks..
My 2013 with 1000k miles does this, did it on the first test drive also.
I just left my dealership after a discussion on the engine rough idle.
We checked 3 random new vehicles on the lot and they all had the same
rough idle problem and they are telling me that this is normal.i am in shock and i ,m not sure what to do now?

What I do is hook up my laptop and go on a road test and take a snap shot of any misfires. check TSB and star cases. Then either start a star case or fix the problem. So ask the dealer to do the same thing.
My 2011 DGC with 50,000km idles very, very smooth. In fact, I have once or twice had to check the tach to verify that it is running.
HOWEVER - this engine recently had both cam phasers replaced, as well as a "couple" of rocker arms that were worn. Prior to that work, I am not sure it was idling very smoothly. At times, it ran like a nightmare waiting to die.....
To my mind, the other reports in this discussion may be indicating that Chrysler has an issue with this engine that is not severe. Yet.

Check the valve in back of engine theres a hose that runs from it to the side of air intake i pinched the rubber part where it connects to the air intake manifold and all my problems disappeared. At the time i pinched the hose for a few seconds by hand my van was idling rough but when i let go the rpms picked up and van was running smoothly and has been ever since neighbor who is an retired mechanic thinks the valve was stuck which was giving me lean codea and random misfires due to improper mixtures. I had jeard a hissing noise coming from that side of the engine and a whoosh in the intake when i hit the gas but since they have both disappeared cant remember what the valve was called off hand
