EGR Valve disconected
Hello, Iīm new in the forum, seeking help! About 6 months ago I bought a 2002 G.C. Sport with a 3.3 lts. engine, I noticed a strong smell of "un-burned" gasoline of the exhaust, a "mechanic" change the spark plugs, but the smell continued, I check the engine and discover an unpluged, 2 wire harnes over the alternator, I found that the EGR valve (EGV830) had no plug in it, but, as I said before, the plug was a 2 wire harnes and the conection on the EGR valve is a 5 pin conection jack. You may be surprised, I am not, because here in Mexico those are the problems you have when buying a used, north american procedence vehicle. Now I know that some parts of the wiring of the engine were replaced, not with originals or even, right ones. So far, nobody, and I mean, nobody, not even both Dodge distribuitors in my city had solve the issue, they do not have the especific wiring diagram to the valve. My request: the wiring diagram to the EGR valve? All I need is the "origin" of the 5 wires and the color codes for them, as well as the conection orden in the valve, I am sure I can make the hook up once I know "where from and where to". Thank you all very much.

It would appear that the wrong EGR valve was installed at some point. My wiring diagram, verified by looking at the valve on our van, shows 2 wires for the solenoid, 18 gauge dark blue/violet and 18 gauge pink/gray.
Leonard, there is something else you might be looking at. The egr valve has no electrical connections. The egr valve solenoid has a 2 wire connector. If you place images it would help more.. Also your van will have codes set and a check engine light on. The codes will help alot. The egr being disconnected will not cause fuel smell or fuel control problems. I was in mexico for 3 years doing diagnosis and can tell you about 99% of the mechanics there dont know crap about diagnosing dealers included. You have other issues and we can surely help but we need more info.. And language is not a barrier. We speak spanish here too...

Hello, thanks for your response, since I bought the van it has no catalityc converter it is a fact that the people that bring the vehicles to MX take away ALL cat converters from ALL vehicles, then they sell them, sometimes, like "new" ones. Thank You, Iīve posted some pictures of the EGC valve in my G.C.

Hello, thank you for the diagram but that is not the valve in the engine of may G.C., Iīve posted and image below, thank you.
Hello, thank you for your response, Iīve been thinking that somebody took the job of changing the valve, the conection and the entire admision manifold, since there is a pipe coming out the valve to the manifold, after the aceleration body. The fact is: that is the valve installed in the engine of my G.C. and in the plate on the side of the driverīs door is especified year 2002, even that here in MX that model didnīt come to sale until 2005. All I need is to know the origin of the conection to this egr valve, and the color codes of it. Thank you very much.
Leonardo, please take a picture of the complete engine.. It seems you have something different in your van...That in no way is for a grand caravan...Some one installed another engine or intake manifold in it..
