Default 02 Gr. Caravan O2 Downstream Sensor problem

My check engine light went ON, snap on tells its the O2 sensor....my mechanic change both the upstream and downstream sensor and cleared the codes but after couple of weeks the engine light went ON again, it was checked and it shows the Downstream Sensor is malfunctioning...LAZY sensor as they call it, it works but it takes time to do its job, so they change it as I got the warranty on the part, but after a week Engine Light went ON again and this time it says CAM Sensor and Downstrean Sensor again.....I don't know what is happening...any idea please help!

Welcome to DF
I would check the wire harness on the rear cylinder head. Thats if you have a 3.3/3.8 engine. The harness is having a problem melting inside tubing and causing a lot problems.

Replace the injector harness or repair it. Just remember wires that have melted together can also fry the engine controller too.

Question Another problem: 02 Grand Caravan

Hi Master Tech.
Thanks for the info you have provided.

I have another issue about my van... when I start my engine after long hours of parking, there is a loud tik-tik-tik noise coming from the side were the belt runs and noise diminished a little bit after warming out the engine for 20 mins running the vehicle but everytime I press the gas pedal, the noise runs too.

My mechanic first change the idler pulley & the belt and the noise disappeared abut after couple of days same noise came back, so yesterday he changed the tensioner and when I start the vehicle after overnight parking the noise tik-tik-tik was gone but the issue now is when I press the gas pedal there's still a tik-tik-tik noise but isn't that loud as to the previous incident before he changed my tensioner and pulley,
but I just noticed after driving around 15mins the noise disappear.... is this just normal after changing the tensioner or there's a problem with my van?

It could be either a water pump or an alternator damper/pulley causing the noise.

i used my van the whole day yesterday the noise is always there...everytime i press the gas and everytime the van is moving the noise is there, the noise is similar when you spin a SPIN WHEEL (if you're familiar with the spin wheel on the THE PRICE IS RIGHT game show) tik-tik-tik-tik, were the harder i pressed the gas pedal the strong the noise comes out.

i had the same problem almost 5 years ago and a garage mechanic changed my tensioner, belt and water pump (all aftermarket OEM) then after few days noise came back and my mechanic changed the tensioner for the 2nd time and after few days...noise came back again.

this time i decided to bring the van to the dealer....after doing a diagnostics... they told me they have to change the tensioner/belt and water pump with original mopar parts, because they told me sometimes OEM parts are not 100% compatible with a vehicle, so after they changed it the noise did not came back until just now.... i am thinking i might need to change the water pump, since the Pully/Tensioner (mopar) were already replaced and noise still coming back.

is the alternator damper is the same as the vibration damper?....is you scale 1-10 (10 as the highest) which is the part i need to replaced?

In most case's the alternator would need to be replace if that damper is bad.
