I have a 2000 TC 3.3 4spd ATX and the trans is acting up. Throwing code P1782. I also have a known good solenoid pack from a 1996 GC 3.3 4spd ATX. The older solenoid pack has a heavy steel plate mounted between the pack and the trans. It uses 2 gaskets for sealing. The new trans does not have the heavy steel plate and it only uses one gasket for sealing.

Can I fit the older (1996) solenoid pack to the new (2000) trans somehow for testing??

Yes you can, As long as you have the correct gaskets on the solenoid pack.
