transmission lagging??
hi guys. my 02 dodge caravan has been running great. i just did 18,000 miles through the states in it and it didnt skip a beat!
im back in alberta now, in the cold, and the transmission has started giving me grief.
when i move the selector into reverse or drive, sometimes it doesnt shift at all, and other times it will but after about 10seconds or so. once in gear it will sometimes slip out and the car will just rev and then suddenly clunk back in again. its intermittent though because after i got to the shops and did some shopping, i started it again and it drove fine the whole way home.
any ideas on whats causing this? engine light came on yesterday when it was playing up as well.
thanks alot, any help much appreciated.

i havent checked the code yet because the mechanic wants $140 just to tell me what it is. can i do it myself with a safety pin in the diagnostic terminal like you could on earlier cars? i checked the oil and its clean and full. it did look rather aerated though. is that normal? thanks for the reply
